FUND software was developed for the National Imagery & Mapping Agency (NIMA)
FUND is used to demonstrate the functionality of NIMA's Digital Nautical Chart (DNC) database. Display of DNC on FUND provides the tools and features of an Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) and allows the user to exploit the functionality inherent in DNC to meet International Maritime Organization(IMO) and/or International Hydrographic Organization(IHO) standards. FUND utilizes the DNC database directly with no pre-processing or re-formatting and allows sensor inputs for devices such as Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
FUND has been developed and will continue to be supported in the Windows NT operating system environment. Future versions of the FUND software will support DNC updating methods and full NIMA GEOSYM 4 symbology implementation.

This program is designed to:
- receive meteorological NEXRAD2 data from external source
- backup the received data on a local cache and maintain a purging policy according
to the user preferences
- stand a service provider for other clients (processes) and notify them about incoming data
- draw data on the viewer
The external source of data could be acquired from:
- XM Radio source pimped over serial port or TCP/IP socket
- another TCP/IP NETRAD server

SalvageRecovery for Microsoft Windows is capable of recovering data from deleted, formatted, damaged, or corrupted FAT, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS and NTFS5 partitions due to formats, viruses, partitions loss, power failure, and file or directory deletion. SalvageRecovery runs on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 and is a read-only utility that does not damage data on the media in any way.
We realised some kernel API functions for this project.

SalvageRecovery for Linux is capable of recovering lost data from damaged, or corrupted linux Ext2, Ext3 and ReiserFS based partitions and file systems due to formats, viruses, partitions loss, power failure, and file or directory deletion. SalvageRecovery for Linux runs on Windows based operating systems in order to recover data from attached Linux volumes. SalvageRecovery for Linux is a read-only utility that does not damage data on the media in any way.

S.M.A.R.T. - Self Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology
S.M.A.R.T. is designed to predict failure of a hard disk drive with adequate notification time, allowing a user to back up data preceding the drive failure. S.M.A.R.T. technology is functional for both IDE and SCSI disk drives.
Drive architectures differ from one drive to another. S.M.A.R.T. contains a different set of attributes and thresholds for each drive model. Each drive must be monitored precisely to ensure stability is maintained. The exact attributes monitored depend particularly on the drive manufacturer and model. The acceptable values are programmed into the drive. If the readings for the different attributes fall out of acceptable range, or the trend of an attribute reveals declining performance, a message is sent to the drive’s SMART status register to warn the drive a problem may be occurring.
